A meeting took place last Wednesday night 3rd June in St. Joseph’s Community Centre where all were welcome to attend if they had an interest in exploring the needs of the youth in the community. The meeting was well attended and following discussion with Maedhbh Gordon of Offaly Local Development Company who is available to work with the community to research our needs, it was decided that the first step is to undertake some research into a number of areas. During the summer months the committee are going to investigate all of the current activities available for youth in the town and also look at what already established national bodies could offer for the youth. It was also agreed that we should visit some established youth projects in the surrounding areas and this will happen in September when all the children are in full attendance again. We hope from this initial research that we can establish what we are missing in Kilcormac. Please watch this space for further information on our progress in this area and if you have any interest in getting involved please contact the KDA on 0579135445 or come along to the next meeting in September when you see it advertised.
