NEW BUS SERVICE BALLYBOY TO BIRR
West Offaly Community Transport, under a Rural Transport Initiative, is commencing a bus service from Ballyboy to Birr, on Fridays only. This service will commence on this Friday 7th March. The Bus will leave Ballyboy at 10a.m. and travel via Kilcormac, Rath, Five-Alley, Galross Cross and arrive in Birr 11.00a.m. approx.
The Bus will return leaving The Square, Birr (outside Post Office), at 1.30p.m. Fare is 6Euro, or persons producing Free Travel Pass or Student Card will be 3Euro.
Booking is essential, with at least 24 hours notice of intention to travel, and you can book by phoning 0902/54956.
Persons wishing to travel to Birr on the proposed route, but living off the main road can be collected at their door (provided bus can be turned). This service is open to all age groups.
KILCORMAC/KILLOUGHEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY A.G.M.
The Annual General Meeting of K/K Historical Society takes place on Tues. 11th March, in Kilcormac Community Centre at 8.30p.m.
The meeting is followed by a lecture on Kilcormac and its environs given by Michael Byrne, a popular solicitor and publisher of many books and papers on all aspects of local history. All are welcome to come along and share our interest in the club – in particular that Kilcormac is celebrating its centenary of the name Kilcormac from Frankford.
FOUR SEASONS GARDENING CLUB
The next meeting of the Gardening Club takes place on Monday night next 10th March, at 8.30p.m. in O'Sullivans, Kilcormac. The meeting will be attended by Norman Davy, from Shinrone Garden Centre, who will bring some plants to the meeting and give a talk and demonstration.
A reminder also that there are still some seats available for the away trip from 28th April to 2nd May. Contact Eileen at 0509/35152.
KILCORMAC SOCIAL SERVICES
Kilcormac Social Services would like to thank every omner who come along to the social get together on Thurs. evening last.
A particular word of thanks to Ciara Galvin, Physiotherapist with the Midland Health Board, who gave very good advice and guided us through many beneficial exercises. Thanks to the ladies who provided the refreshments, to Tom and P.J. who are always so helpful and to the K.D.A. for allowing use of their premises. Hopefully there will be some more get togethers during the year. Watch this space!. The Social Services Council would like to wish Breeda and Ernest Devito every good luck in the future, when they retire from their business. They have been very good friends of our committee down through the years.
ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
It is all systems go in preparation for this years St. Patricks Day Parade.
The organising committee has purchased the trophies, the judges have been approached and appointed, the reviewing stand has been procured and all that is hoped for now is a good fine day.
This year we make a special appeal to schools to participate. As usual we have the Café Royale Trophy and a cash prize for the winning school. The Fancy Dress competitions will attract large numbers and we also ask the business people to enter into the spirit of the National Celebrations by decorating their windows. We know that many behind the scenes and secret preparations are being made by the major players to win the coveted Overall Trophy plus 300Euro. As per usual we charge no entry fee but a charge of 20Euro will be put on any commercial entry.
We look forward to seeing you all in Kilcormac on St. Patrick's Day.
RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
The St. Cormac's Park Residents Association congratulate all of the winners in their Christmas Draw. The main prizewinners are as follows: 1st Monster Hamper Graham and Shane Melia, Kinnitty Rd., 2nd 40 Bales of Briq. Roschell McSweeney c/o Jim Moyney; 3rd Turkey, Maisie Cleary, Broughal, 4th Ham K. Turley, Belmont, 5th Cake and Brandy David Clancy, Clononey. There were 28 other prizes and the committee wish to thank very sincerely all the sponsors for their generosity in sponsoring such great prizes.
RETIREMENT
The well-known premises DeVitos, Newsagents, Main St. Kilcormac sees a change of face this week. After twenty three years in the business, Ernest and Breeda DeVito have now retired. We wish them many happy years in their retirement. The business will be carried on by John and Caroline Heffernan, and we wish them every success and good luck for the future in their new venture.

There was no winner of the Jackpot. Winnng Nos. were 3.4,8,22. There were three match 3 winners. Promoters prize went to E. DeVito. Next week the Draw is in Dooleys and the Jackpot will be 11000~Euro.
FRIENDS OF CHERNOBYL
A Benefit Shoot for the Friends of Chernobyl will take place at the Midland Rifle Club on Sunday 30th March, commencing at 10.30a.m.sharp. Full details later.
BALLYBOY C.C.E.
A reminder of the Branch meeting this Wed. night at 9.15p.m. in Dan & Mollys. The main purpose of this meeting is to discuss the float for St. Patrick's Day Parade.
