Kilcromac was one of a few towns and villages around Ireland to secure funding from the Rural Economic Development Zones initiative.

Under the 2016 REDZ scheme, just over €5.3 million is being approved to 41 projects nationwide, with €1.9 million going to projects in the North and Western Region, €1.3 million for projects in the Southern Region and €2.1 million for projects in the Eastern and Midlands Region.

Three projects were funded in Offaly out of the 15 in the East and Midlands region. Well done to all involved in securing this.

Plans highlighting proposed changes to the entrance and exit of the town were recently on display at a community meeting in St Josephs Communty Centre. A further Community Action Plan meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 7th December from 8pm to 9 pm
