Social Dance – we just love to dance

Line and Sequence Dancing in St. Joseph’s Community Centre on Friday 23rd October from 8:30pm – 10:30pm, admission €5. Everybody is welcome, old, young, two left feet, single, married, beginners. It doesn’t matter we have a light hearted atmosphere and like to enjoy ourselves, no dance partner needed

Rí Rá Parent & Toddler Group

The group will be meeting on Thursday 22nd October from 11am – 12:30pm in St. Joseph’s Community Centre. It is for children aged 0-5years, €3 per family.

Kilcormac Men’s Shed

The Men’s Shed are meeting on Mondays from 6:30pm and Thursday 5pm onwards. All very welcome to attend, for more information call 087 9689029.

Kilcormac Walking Club

Kilcormac Walking Club are still meeting every Tuesday and Thursday evening in Lough Boora Parklands. The meeting point is the old bicycle hire area. Why not join us any evening, no need to pre-book, just turn up, we leave on the walk promptly at 7:30pm each evening so just make sure you’re there in time to join the group. All welcome. Dance

Set Dancing in Dan & Molly’s Ballyboy every Sunday night from 9pm – all welcome.

County and Western Dance in Dan and Molly’s Ballyboy, every Wednesday night at 9pm. So if you want to learn a new step or just brush up on jive, waltz, quick step, foxtrot or line dances. Come along you are guaranteed a great night out.

Kilcormac Annual Christmas Fair

This great annual event will take place on Friday 4th December from 5pm to 9pm in the Community Centre, Kilcormac.  Event organisers, Kilcormac Community Childcare are already busy ensuring that this years event is bigger and better than ever.  Lots of local grown enterprises and craft providers will be displaying their goods and services.  Santa will be visiting his grotto and there will be plenty of local entertainment.  Please put this date in your diary.  

Kilcormac Credit Union: 2015 Credit Union Art Competition

Don’t forget the closing date for all entries to the Credit Union Art competition is this Friday 23rd October. All entries must be submitted on either A3 or A2 size paper or board and must be in a landscape shape. Winners at local level go on to represent Kilcormac Credit Union at regional level and if successful, at national level.

Killoughey Community Alert

Killoughey Community Alert committee met to assess the progress of the community alert project.  Signage announcing the parish is a community alert area are erected at most of the entrance roads to the parish and some of the major internal junctions.  The text alert system is up and running and by most accounts is functioning well.  If you have applied for the text messages and are not receiving them, or would like to get on the system, please contact Danny Owens, 0871271526, or Jim Casey, 0863852725.  Personal alarms have been installed in many of the homes that requested them.  Again, I you have not received yours, or did not apply for one and would like to do so, please contact Danny or Jim.  The next project the committee is undertaking is to print a flyer with important community and emergency numbers.  The last listing was printed before the change from 0506 to 057 93. If you have suggestions for inclusions please contact Imelda Rosney, Danny or Jim.

Killoughey Badminton Club

Killoughey Badminton Club Juvenile players are reminded of the Offaly County singles this coming Sunday. Registration for U-11, U15, and U19 takes place at 9.30 a.m. in Clonaslee Community Centre. U13 and U17 players register at 2.00 p.m. Registration fee for U11 and U13 is €3.50 per player. U15, U17, and U19 play with feathered shuttles and must pay €5.50. Players may play in their age group and the next higher one, but must pay the registration fee in each competition. Southwest Leinster Leagues have started for the Grade 4 Men’s team.  Offaly leagues have their first matches scheduled to be played by 6 November for Division 6 Ladies.  All other leagues get underway the following week.

Basic Internet Classes

If there are enough people interested to form a class, Ballycommon Telework and Training Centre Ltd. will run a class in Kilcormac in the coming months for Basic Internet skills. If you are interested please call Roisin or Aising at 057 9153177/057 9153441.

Kid-Fit at Kilcormac Childcare Centre

Kid-Fit continues for 2 yrs 10 mths to 5 years on a Saturday morning from 11am to 11.45am.  This provides children with plenty of activity and exercise.  €3 per child.  

Kilcormac Afterschool

Kilcormac Afterschool is very busy so far this year. Staff are currently picking up from Scoil Mhuire & Chormaic and Broughall NS. We are now hoping to start picking up from Ballyboy NS subject to demand. Next week is our final week for enrolment under the CCS scheme which offers reduced fees to those on Social Welfare and/or with a medical/GP visit card. Guitar Lessons

Guitar lessons with Daithi Melia will take place in Kilcormac Childcare on Wednesday evenings from 5.45pm.  Each lessons is with a group of 4/5 others, lessons lasting 45 minutes and costing €10 per person.  Beginners and experienced welcome.  Please contact 086 8914392 for more details.  

ECDL for students

The widely sought after ECDL course is being offered in Kilcormac Childcare Centre from Wednesday 4th November.  This course will run over 18 weeks from 7pm to 9.45pm covering six modules.  Price is €245 which includes exams and laptops will be provided.  Depoist of €35 payable to secure a place, weekly payments thereafter.  Limited places available, so please contact us soon on 086 8914392 or email kilcormacchildcare@gmail.com.

Halloween Camp

Halloween camp for National School age children will take place on Wed 28th, Thurs 29th and Fri 30th October in Kilcormac Afterschool.  €9 per day or €25 for all three days.  Booking is essential.  This promises to be a fun filled camp.  Contact 086 2679419 to register and for any further details.
